The M.Sc. program, in Malmö, Sweden, responds directly to the needs of the maritime industry, equipping graduates with the skills necessary for a successful career. The M.Sc. program offers 6 specializations:
• Shipping Management & Logistics;
• Port Management;
• Maritime Safety and Environmental Administration;
• Maritime Law and Policy;
• Marine Environmental & Ocean Management
• Maritime Education and Training.
The standard 14-month program runs from September each year, and consists of 90 ECTS degree credits. Candidates who have already completed a postgraduate program elsewhere may be granted advanced standing, exempting them from the first semester.
The minimum general entrance requirements are:
• a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline, or an equivalent university qualification
• competence in English language, demonstrated by an internationally recognised standard test
• computer competence

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): 96+ in the internet-based test, 590+ in the paper-based test
International English Language Testing System (IELTS): band 7.0 or above
Cambridge Examinations: Cam
Term 1: all students complete the same Foundation Studies, which provide an introduction to the legal, technical, regulatory and economic aspects of sea use.
Terms 2 and 3: students follow one of six specialisations:
• Shipping Management & Logistics;
• Port Management
• Maritime Law & Policy;• Maritime Safety & Environmental Administration;
• Marine Environmental & Ocean Management
• Maritime Education & Training.
Term 4: students have a choice of a range of Electives, which allow them to deepen their specialisation, and add knowledge of one or more of the other areas. Certain students may complete a dissertation, which is usually based on a particular issue relating to their work in their home country, and must be approved by the University. The dissertation may involve original research, or be an analysis of a topic based on secondary sources.
Our graduates are:
• equipped with the knowledge and skills to enable them to fulfill successfully their national and international responsibilities for effective maritime development
• fully aware of maritime operations in general, as well as of their chosen specialization
• sensitive to the general objectives of the United Nations and the particular aims of IMO
• sufficiently flexible to adapt to a variety of roles in the maritime field

• skilled in problem solving, critical analysis and independent endeavor
